Camila Firpo, Co-Founder of Powerful Moms NYC

For Camila Firpo, motherhood became the spark that ignited a new chapter—not just in her personal life, but in her purpose. Originally from Medellín, Colombia, Camila moved to the United States six years ago. Like so many who take the leap into a new country, her journey has been filled with unexpected challenges, moments of growth, and the constant rediscovery of her own strength. But it was becoming a mother two years ago that pushed her to step even further out of her comfort zone and into her calling: creating community for other Latina moms.

Today, Camila is the proud co-founder of Powerful Moms NYC, a corporation dedicated to supporting, connecting, and uplifting Latina mothers at every stage of their journeys. Through events like community meetings and bazaars, Camila and her team create spaces for entrepreneurial moms to share their businesses, build relationships, and celebrate the vibrant Latino community in New York.

For Camila, this work is deeply personal. Facing the realities of immigration, adjusting to a new culture, and supporting her mother through a cancer diagnosis have all shaped the way she leads and shows up for others. These experiences have taught her the value of resilience, family, and the importance of creating spaces where women can lean on each other during life’s most difficult moments.

"Overcoming the challenges of immigrating to the United States has been my proudest achievement," Camila shares. "Nothing prepares you for the rollercoaster of emotions that comes with moving to a new country, but the experience taught me to trust in myself and embrace the journey."

It’s this same mindset that drives her as an entrepreneur. Camila encourages new business owners to slow down, take one step at a time, and give themselves the grace to grow without comparison. She knows firsthand how easy it is to feel overwhelmed, but staying focused on the bigger vision—while taking breaks to let creativity flow—is how she’s been able to build momentum, both in business and in life.

Camila was especially proud to celebrate the 2nd Edition of Expo Mamá in 2024, an event designed to showcase and support Latina moms and their businesses. What began as a vision is now an annual gathering that continues to grow, bringing more women together to connect, collaborate, and shine.

Finding balance as a wife, mother, and business owner is something Camila takes seriously. She prioritizes creating clear routines for both her family and her work, allowing space for herself as well. Time for joy and self-care isn’t optional—it’s essential, and Camila believes that taking care of her own happiness allows her to bring more positive energy into everything she does. Being part of LABNNY has been an extension of that same energy.

Being part of LABNNY has meant so much to me, not only for the connections but for the wonderful community. It truly feels like family, with everyone helping and guiding one another.

Through LABNNY, Camila has found a network that understands both the hustle and the heart it takes to build something meaningful. It’s a place where she’s been able to grow as an entrepreneur while cheering on others who are navigating their own journeys.

This year, Camila has leaned into the power of risk-taking, knowing that some of life’s greatest opportunities come when we’re brave enough to leap. Whether she’s planning the next event for Powerful Moms NYC, sharing her story with fellow entrepreneurs, or simply taking time to recharge, Camila continues to create a life and business rooted in community, courage, and joy.
