Alexis Espinoza-Arrubla, Founder of Fern Vibes
Alexis Espinoza-Arrubla’s journey has been anything but traditional. With a deep love for math and statistics, she was once known as the "statistics girl" in CUNY’s PhD Sociology program, helping fellow students master the numbers behind their dissertations. But while her academic expertise shaped one part of her path, her personal healing journey opened the door to something even bigger, a commitment to mindfulness, emotional wellness, and generational healing
As the first in her family to explore yoga and mindfulness, Alexis began practices at 19 that would eventually guide not only her own life but also her work with youth and families. Today, as the founder of Fern Vibes, Alexis blends her talents as a teacher, researcher, and mindfulness educator, helping adults pass on emotional intelligence and self-regulation skills to children.
Fern Vibes is more than just a business. It’s the extension of Alexis’ lifelong passions: advocacy, peace, healing, and education. Whether she’s working with clients, accrediting teachers in Reiki, Sound Therapy, and Mindfulness, or creating programs through her nonprofit, the Fern Foundation for Kids in Omaha, Nebraska, Alexis is committed to building tools that serve future generations. One of her proudest milestones is the launch of her Mindfulness Educator Certification, which forms the foundation of her nonprofit’s work with hypersensitive children.
“For those just starting out in business, Alexis offers a simple but powerful piece of advice: Do not be afraid to be authentic.”
When she’s not leading workshops or teaching, you’re likely to find Alexis homeschooling her children or traveling cross-country with her family in their RV, affectionately named Sirius. Road life, family time, and creating lasting memories are as much a part of her work as her certification programs. Through it all, she is committed to balance—something she manages with the help of routines, clear boundaries, meal prep, and scheduling time for fun with her loved ones.
But as any entrepreneur knows, growth comes with its challenges. For Alexis, one of the hardest transitions was pivoting from teaching to certifying other teachers. It was a shift that reinforced one of the most important lessons in her journey: growth requires change. And sometimes, what feels like rejection is simply redirection, pushing us toward our true purpose.
At the heart of Alexis’ practice is the belief in mindful movement and breathwork as essential tools. By syncing breath with movement, she helps students anchor in the present, regulate their nervous systems, and cultivate a greater awareness of both mind and body. These are the same techniques she applies in her own life to stay focused, energized, and grounded, especially on the hard days.
Since joining LABNNY, Alexis has found a community that reflects the same values she brings into her work and life.
"LABNNY has allowed me to connect to so many wonderful women and develop meaningful connections and friendships."
Being part of a network that feels like familia has been an invaluable addition to her journey, and she is grateful for the space LABNNY provides to Latina women building lives and businesses with purpose.
